According to the author, it took mankind more than a million years to reach the first billion. This was around the year 1800. But in the 21st century, the world's population reached to an estimate of 5.7 billion. Every four days, the world population increases by one million. More children does not mean more hands to work, merely more people without work. No sustainable development can take place till population explosion is put under control. The choice is between control of population and perpetuation of poverty.
