(i) IT can help in disseminating information regarding advanced technology and its applications, prices, weather and soil conditions for growing different crops etc. Which facilities farmers in taking effective decisions regarding their crops and other activities. It also enhances productivity in farm and non-farm sectors of rural economy. (ii) IT can act as a means of releasing the creative potential and knowledge in the society and has the potential of employment generation in rural areas as kisan call centres and various websites providing valuable information regarding measures to sustainable development. Thus, we can say IT sector plays a vital role in assuring food security and sustainable development in India.
