        (i) Give a method for the manufacture of \[{{H}_{2}}{{O}_{2}}\] and explain the reactions involved therein. (ii) Illustrate oxidising, reducing and acidic properties of\[{{H}_{2}}{{O}_{2}}\] with equations.

    Answer:

      \[{{H}_{2}}{{O}_{2}}\]is prepared by treatment of metal peroxide with acid. For example: \[Ba{{O}_{2}}+{{H}_{2}}S{{O}_{4}}\to BaS{{O}_{4}}+{{H}_{2}}{{O}_{2}}\] \[{{H}_{2}}{{O}_{2}}\]is very effective oxidising agent for example : \[PbS+4{{H}_{2}}{{O}_{2}}\to PbS{{O}_{2}}+4{{H}_{2}}O\] Hydrogen peroxide acts as reducing agent also. Hydrogen peroxide forms salt with bases, which confirms its acidic character.                 \[{{H}_{2}}{{O}_{2}}+2NaOH\to N{{a}_{2}}{{O}_{2}}+2{{H}_{2}}O\]
