The compressibility of water is\[4\times {{10}^{-5}}\]per unit atmospheric pressure, 100 cc of water is subjected to a change of pressure of 100 atmosphere. The change in volume will be

    A)  \[4\times {{10}^{-1}}cc\]

    B)  \[4\times {{10}^{-4}}cc\]

    C)  \[4\times {{10}^{-2}}cc\]

    D)  \[4\times {{10}^{-3}}cc\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

     Compressibility is given by \[\frac{1}{k}=\frac{dV}{pV}\] \[\therefore \] \[4\times {{10}^{-5}}\times pV=dV\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[dV=100\times 100\times {{10}^{-6}}\times 4\times {{10}^{-5}}\] \[=4\times {{10}^{-7}}{{m}^{3}}\] \[=4\times {{10}^{-1}}cc\]
