Political parties can be reformed in the following ways: (i) According to the law of Constitution, any MLA or MP changing political party will loose their seat in the Legislature. It helps in bringing defection down and elected MP and MLA have to abide by party?s rule and regulations. (ii) Supreme Court passed an order that made mandatory for every candidate who contests election to file Affidavit disclosing details of his property and criminal cases pending against him. Unfortunately, there was no system to check the information given by the candidates. (iii) Election Commission of India passed an order making it necessary for political parties to hold their organizational elections and file their income tax returns. (iv) A law should be made to regulate the internal affairs of political parties. It should be made compulsory for political parties to maintain a register of it?s members, to follow it?s own constitution, to have an independent authority, to act as a judge in case of party disputes, to hold open elections to the highest posts.
