    A and B undertook to do a piece of work for Rs. 4500. A alone could do it in 8 days and B alone in 12 days. With the assistance of C, they finished the work in 4 days C's share of money is?

    Solution :

    Suppose C alone could do the work in x days. Then,    \[\frac{1}{x}=\frac{1}{4}-\left( \frac{1}{8}+\frac{1}{12} \right)\] \[=\frac{1}{4}-\frac{5}{24}=\frac{1}{24}\] \[x=24\,\,days\] Ratio in work done by A, B and C \[=\frac{1}{8}:\frac{1}{12}:\frac{1}{24}\] \[=3:2:1\] Hence, C's share of money \[=\frac{1}{(3+2+1)}\times 4500\] \[=\frac{1}{6}\times 4500=Rs.\,\,750\]
