    A man has Rs. 480 in the denominations of one-rupee notes, five rupee notes and ten rupee notes. The number of notes of each denomination is equal. What is the total number of notes that he has?

    Solution :

    Let number of notes of one rupee, five rupee and ten mpee are x, x and x respectively. Then,                \[Rs.\,\,1\]          \[Rs.\,\,5\]          \[Rs.\,\,10\] Number of notes x         x         x Value of rupees   x         5x         10x So,       Total sum of money = 480 x+5x+10x = 480 16x = 480 x = 30 Hence, he has total number of notes = 3x \[=3\times 30=90\]
