    29. The cash difference between the selling prices of an article at a profit of 4% and 6% is Rs. 3. The ratio of the two selling prices is?

    A) 51 :52

    B) 52 : 53

    C) 51: 53

    D) 52 : 55

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Let selling price of an article is x and x + 3 Then cost price of article at a profit of 4% \[=\frac{x\times 100}{104}\] Cost price of article at a profit of 6% \[=\frac{(x+3)\times 100}{106}\] Now,     \[\frac{x\times 100}{104}=\frac{(x+3)\times 100}{106}\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[\frac{x}{52}=\frac{x+3}{53}\] \[\Rightarrow \]   \[53x=52x+156\] \[x=156\] Hence, Required ratio \[=\frac{156}{156+3}\] \[=\frac{156}{159}=\frac{52}{53}\]
