Railways RRB (Assistant Loco Pilot) Solved Paper-2013

  • question_answer
A person sold two pipes at Rs. 12 each. His profit on one was 20% and his loss on the other was 20%. On the whole, he:

    A)  Neither loss nor gained

    B)  Gained Rs. 1

    C)  Lost Rs. 1

    D)  Gained Rs. 2

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

     \[\because \]C.P. of first pipe\[=\frac{12\times 100}{(100+20)}=Rs.\,\,10\] \[\Rightarrow \]C.P. of second pipe\[=\frac{12\times 100}{(100-20)}=Rs.\,\,15\] \[\Rightarrow \]C.P. of both the pipes\[=10+15=Rs.\,\,25\] \[\Rightarrow \]S.P. of both pipes\[=12+12=Rs.\,\,24\] \[\therefore \]Loss on the whole\[=25-24=Rs.\,\,1\]
