    Solution :

    The mixture of \[ZnC{{l}_{2}}\]and cone. \[HCl\] is called Lucas reagent. It is used in distinguishing \[{{1}^{o}},\] \[{{2}^{o}}\] and \[{{3}^{o}}\] alcohol.  Tertiary alcohols give white turbidity with this immediately, while secondary alcohol give turbidity after 5 minutes. Whereas \[{{1}^{o}}\] alcohol do not react at all.
