    In an experiment with a potentiometer it was found that no deflection is caused in the ameter on joining the two terminals with cells with 125 cm length of the potentiometer wire. If resistance of 2\[\Omega \]is connected to the terminal of cell, then balancing length is 100 cm, calculate the internal resistance of cell:

    A) \[0.5\,\Omega \]                             

    B)        \[1.5\,\Omega \]                             

    C)  \[1.25\,\Omega \]         

    D)        \[\frac{4}{5}\,\Omega \]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    From the formula of potentiometer internal resistance \[r=\frac{{{l}_{1}}-{{l}_{2}}}{{{l}_{2}}}\times R\] \[=\frac{125-100}{100}\times 2=0.5\Omega \]
