RAJASTHAN PMT Rajasthan - PMT Solved Paper-1997

  • question_answer
In Youngs experiment, slits are separated by 1 mm and screen is 1 m away from slits. If 10th bright fringe is at a distance of 5 mm from central then wavelengths of light used will be:

    A)  \[5000\overset{\text{o}}{\mathop{\text{A}}}\,\]

    B)         \[6000\overset{\text{o}}{\mathop{\text{A}}}\,\]

    C)  \[7000\overset{\text{o}}{\mathop{\text{A}}}\,\]

    D)         \[8000\overset{\text{o}}{\mathop{\text{A}}}\,\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Fringe width \[{{X}_{n}}=\frac{n\lambda D}{2d}\] \[\lambda =\frac{{{X}_{n}}\times 2d}{nD}\] \[=\frac{5\times {{10}^{-3}}\times 1\times {{10}^{-3}}}{10\times 1}=5000\overset{\text{o}}{\mathop{\text{A}}}\,\]
