    Photosynthetic bacteria have pigments in

    A)  chromoplasts

    B)  leucoplasts

    C)  chloroplasts

    D)  chromatophore

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

In photosynthetic bacteria, small particles of\[60\mu m\] diameter, called chromatophores, are present. These are attached to the inner surface of cell membrane, have no limiting membrane and possess bacteriochlorophyll. Plastids are of three types, on the basis of their colour: (a)Chromoplasts - Coloured plastids except green, give different type of colour appearance of different parts of the plant.                 (b) Chloroplasts - Green plastids take part in the process of photosynthesis.  Leucoplasts - Colourless plastids, mainly function as store house of various type of food.
