What amount of water is added in \[40ml\] of \[NaOH\,\,(0.1N)\] which is neutralized by \[50ml\] of\[HCl\,\,(0.2N)\]?

    A) \[80ml\]

    B) \[60ml\]

    C) \[40ml\]

    D) \[90ml\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Using Normality equation                 \[{{N}_{1}}{{V}_{1}}={{N}_{2}}{{V}_{2}}\]           \[0.1\times {{V}_{1}}=0.2\times 50\]                     \[{{V}_{1}}=\frac{0.2\times 50}{0.1}=100ml\] Total volume\[=NaOH+water\]                   \[100=40+x\] So amount of water added is\[60ml\].
