    Solution :

    Given, Velocity of balloon\[u=12m/s\] Time\[t=2\sec \]when die packet is released from the balloon it acquires the velocity of balloon it means initial velocity of the packet\[~=12m/s\] Hence, velocity after \[2\sec \] is given by,                 \[v=u+at\]                    \[=12+(-9.8)\times 2\]                    \[=12-19.6=-7.6\,\,m/s\](minus sign is due to the motion is in opposite direction)
