Molar specific heat at constant pressure for a mono atomic gas is

    A) \[\frac{8}{2}R\]

    B) \[\frac{7}{2}R\]

    C) \[\frac{5}{2}R\]

    D) \[\frac{3}{2}R\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Using the relation                 \[{{C}_{p}}-{{C}_{v}}=R\] We know that for monoatomic gas                 \[{{C}_{v}}=\frac{3}{2}R\] So           \[{{C}_{p}}={{C}_{v}}+R=\frac{3}{2}R+R\] Hence,  \[{{C}_{p}}=\frac{5}{2}R\]
