  • question_answer
A transistor is connected in CE configuration. The supply to the collector is 8 V and the voltage drop across a resistor of\[400\,\Omega \]in the collector circuit is 0.5 V. If the current gain factor is\[\alpha =0.96\]then, the base current will be nearly

    A)  \[52\,\mu A\]

    B)  \[42\,\mu A\]

    C)  \[32\,\mu A\]

    D)  \[26\,\mu A\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

                    Given, \[\alpha =0.96\] \[{{V}_{c}}=0.5V\]                 \[R=400\,\Omega \] So        \[\beta =\frac{\alpha }{1-\alpha }\]                 \[=\frac{0.96}{1-0.96}=24\] The collector current\[{{I}_{c}}\]is given by                 \[{{I}_{C}}=\frac{{{V}_{C}}}{R}=\frac{0.5}{400}=1.25\,mA\] The base current is given by                 \[{{I}_{B}}=\frac{{{I}_{C}}}{\beta }=\frac{1.25\times {{10}^{-3}}}{24}=52.08\times {{10}^{-6}}A\]                 \[=52\mu A\]
