The blue colour of sky is explained by

    A)  reflection

    B)  scattering

    C)  polarisation

    D)  refraction

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Blue colour of the sky is explained by the scattering phenomena of light. From Rayleighs law, the intensity of light is related to its wavelength as\[I\propto \frac{1}{{{\lambda }^{4}}}\]. So, the shorter waves are scattered with more intensity. In visible light, violet and blue light have minimum wavelength. Out of these two, the blue colour is more intense.
