MGIMS WARDHA MGIMS WARDHA Solved Paper-2014

  • question_answer
A step down transformer operated on a 2.5 kV line. It supplies a load with 20 A. The ratio of the primary winding to the secondary is\[10:1\]. If the transformer is 90% efficient, the power output is

    A)  \[4.5\times {{10}^{4}}W\]

    B)  \[4.5\times {{10}^{2}}W\]

    C)  \[6\times {{10}^{4}}W\]

    D)  \[6\times {{10}^{4}}W\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

                    The power output \[P=90%\times {{V}_{p}}\times {{I}_{p}}\] Here,    \[{{V}_{p}}=2.5kV=2500V,{{I}_{p}}=20A\] Therefore, the power output \[=90%\times {{V}_{p}}\times {{I}_{p}}=90/100\times 2500\times 20\]\[=45kW=4.5\times {{10}^{4}}W\]
