    Solution :

     Diabetes mellitus is caused due to low secretion of pancreatic insulin hormone. Insulin slows down and the breakdown of glycogen into glucose. But due to lack of insulin, the glycogen breaks down and does not slow down and excess of glucose molecules are released into urine. The formation of glucose is also possible from fats or proteins through the process of glyconeogenesis.
