In the fully organised Polygonum type of embryo sac, what is the ratio of haploid, diploid and triploid nuclei?

    A)  \[3:1:3\]

    B)  \[6:0:1\]

    C)  \[6:1:0\]

    D)  \[3:2:3\]

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

A fully organised Polygonum type of embiyo sac is a 7-celled 8-nucleate structure. The cells of egg apparatus and antipodal cells are haploid whereas the central cell is diploid, ie, contains two polar nuclei. Triploid endosperm is formed after triple fusion, ie, fusion of second male gamete with polar nuclei.
