If the radius of soap bubble is four times that of another, then the ratio of their pressure will be:

    A)  \[1:4\]

    B)  \[4:1\]

    C)  \[16:1\]

    D)  \[1:16\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Radius of first bubble \[{{r}_{1}}=R\] radius of second bubble\[{{r}_{2}}=2R\] The pressure of the soap bubble is \[P=\frac{4T}{R}\Rightarrow P\propto \frac{1}{R}\] Hence, \[\frac{{{P}_{1}}}{{{P}_{2}}}=\frac{{{R}_{2}}}{{{R}_{1}}}=\frac{4R}{R}=4:1\] \[{{P}_{1}}:{{P}_{2}}=4:1\]
