If a straight line passing through the point \[P\left( -3,\text{ }4 \right)\] is such that its intercepted portion between the coordinate axes is bisected at P, then its equation is [JEE Main Online Paper Held On 12-Jan-2019 Evening]

    A) \[4x+3y=0\]

    B) \[4x-3y+24=0\]

    C) \[3x-4y+25=0\]

    D)   \[x-y+7=0\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Let the equation of the line is \[\frac{x}{a}+\frac{y}{b}=1\] \[\therefore \]\[\frac{a}{2}=-3\] and \[\frac{b}{2}=4\]\[\Rightarrow \]\[a=-6\]and\[b=8\] So, equation of the line is \[\frac{x}{-6}+\frac{y}{8}=1\] \[\Rightarrow \]\[4x-3y+24=0\]
