Consider the following equilibrium \[AgCl\downarrow +2N{{H}_{3}}\rightleftharpoons {{\left[ Ag{{\left( N{{H}_{3}} \right)}_{2}} \right]}^{+}}+C{{l}^{-}}\] White precipitate of AgCl appears on adding which of the following?   [JEE Main Online Paper ( Held On 11 Apirl  2014 )

    A) \[N{{H}_{3}}\]                   aqueous NaCl

    B) aqueous \[HN{{O}_{3}}\]

    C) aqueous \[N{{H}_{4}}Cl\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

\[2HN{{O}_{3}}(aq)+{{[Ag{{(N{{H}_{3}})}_{2}}]}^{+}}+C{{l}^{-}}\] \[\xrightarrow[{}]{{}}AgCl(s)\downarrow +2N{{H}_{4}}+2NO_{3}^{-}\] When nitric acid is added to amine solution, solution is made acidic and the complex ion dissociates and liberate silver ion to recombine with chloride ion. This is the conformatory test for silver in group 1.
