The rate constant of a first order reaction at \[\text{27}{{\,}^{o}}\text{C}\]is \[{{10}^{-3}}{{\min }^{-1}}.\]The temperature coefficient of this reaction is 2. What is the rate constant (in\[{{\min }^{-1}}\]) at \[17{{\,}^{o}}C\]for this reaction?

    A) \[{{10}^{-3}}\]

    B)  \[5\times {{10}^{-4}}\]

    C)  \[2\times {{10}^{-3}}\]

    D)  \[{{10}^{-2}}\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

     Temperature coefficient \[=\frac{{{k}_{t}}+10}{{{k}_{t}}}\] \[2=\frac{{{10}^{-3}}}{{{k}_{t}}}\] \[{{k}_{t}}=\frac{{{10}^{-3}}}{2}=\frac{10\times {{10}^{-4}}}{2}=5\times {{10}^{-4}}\]
