    A)  fusion of male and female gametes

    B)  fusion of physiologically similar and morphologically different gametes

    C)  entry of pollen tube through integuments

    D)  None of the above

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

The pollen tube has two male gametes and enters the ovule in majority of cases through  micropyle by  process called porogamy and in some cases through chalaza cabled chalazogamy as in Casuarina. In rare cases the pollen tube may pierse through integuments as in Populus, Cucurbita and called mesogamy. Anisogamy involves fusion of two gametes, which are dissimilar, eg, Chlamydomonas,  Ectocarpus, Pandorina etc, when the two gametes are morphologically dissimilar the anisogamy is said to be morphological, eg, Chlamydomonas braunii, Ectocarpus secundus.
