    \[\text{N}{{\text{H}}_{\text{3}}}\]in Amoeba is excreted by:

    A)  food vacuole

    B)  contractile vacuole

    C)  plasma membrane

    D)  all of the above

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

Amoeba lacks  special   organelles  and arrangement for excretion of nitrogeneous by- product of metabolism. The principal excretory by-product is ammonia in Amoeba i.e., it is ammonotelic. Like carbon dioxide ammonia also continuously diffuses out in solution. Concentration is always higher in the body than the surrounding water. Contractile vacuoles are osmoregulatory organs in Amoeba for the elimination of excess water from the body.
