     \[{{\text{C}}_{\text{4}}}\]plants possess dimorphic chloroplasts and there show \[\text{C}{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}}\]acceptors at two levels. The first acceptor of \[\text{C}{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}}\]is a 3C-compound PEP (Phosphoenol pyruvate) when \[\text{C}{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}}\]is fixed in mesophyll cells. Second fixation of \[\text{C}{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}}\]occurs inside the bundle sheath cells through Calvin   cycle   and   RuBP   (Ribulose biphosphate) is the secondary or final acceptor of \[\text{C}{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}}\]in \[{{\text{C}}_{4}}\]plants. Oxaloacetic acid is the first product formed through primary \[\text{C}{{\text{O}}_{\text{2}}}\]fixation by PEP, in \[{{\text{C}}_{4}}\] plants. Oxaloacetic acid is reduced to malic acid or transaminated to form aspartic acid, which is translocated to bundle sheath cells and decarboxylated to form pyruvate (pyruvic acid) and\[\text{CO}{{}_{2}}.\] Acetic acid is not found to be form in any stage in \[{{\text{C}}_{\text{4}}}\]plants.
