    A)  protonema

    B)  embryo

    C)  antheridia

    D)  archegonia

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Funaria is the common moss plant. The plant body is gametophyte which develops from the germination of the MeiosporesL The moss-spores or meiospores on germination gives rise to a branched filamentous structure called, Protonema. Protonema is heterotrichous i.e., it is differentiated into prostrate creeping branched system (multicelliriar) and has obliquely oriented septa. Antheridia and Archegonia are the male sex organ and female sex organ respectively, enclosed by sterile multicellular jacket in bryophytes. Embryo is the multicellular sporophytic or diploid structure formed by mitotic divisions (without resting period) in the zygote (the first diploid   cell   structure   of   sporophytic generation).
