     Endosperm refers to the food laden tissue, meant for nourishing the embryo in seed plants (spermatocytes). Triploid endosperm nucleus consist of 3 chromosomes in each set. It is a special tissue and a peculiar feature of Angiosperm, formed as a result of fusion of a male gamete nucleus with diploid secondary nucleus of the central cell i.e., triple fusion or vegetative fertilization.              In gymnosperms, endosperm is haploid and represents the female gametophyte. Pteridophytes are vascular plants but reproduce without seeds. Endosperm like feature is absent in pteridophytes.
