In which of the following reptiles four chambered heart is present?

    A)  Lizard

    B)  Snake

    C)  Scorpion

    D)  Crocodile

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

The heart in reptiles is incompletely four chambered\[\left( 3\frac{1}{2}\text{chambered} \right)\]having two auricles and a partly divided ventricle. Sinus venosus is present but truncus arteriosis is absent, e.g., lizards, snakes. Crocodiles have a completely four chambered heart like the birds and mammals. These large reptiles are well adapted for an aquatic existence. Scorpions are members of class-Arachnida of phylum-Arthropoda. Scorpions are generally secretive, hiding in burrows or under objects by day and feeding at night. The circulatory system is of open-type i.e, the blood flows in haemocoel instead of blood vessels. One to many chambered usually tubular heart is present.
