Which one is the Lewis acid?

    A) \[{{H}_{2}}O\]

    B) \[AlC{{l}_{3}}\]

    C) \[RN{{H}_{2}}\]

    D) \[N{{H}_{3}}\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Key Idea: Electron acceptors are Lewis acid (i)\[{{\text{H}}_{\text{2}}}\overset{\centerdot \,\centerdot }{\mathop{\text{O}}}\,,R-\overset{\centerdot \,\centerdot }{\mathop{N}}\,{{H}_{2}}\]and \[\overset{\centerdot \,\centerdot }{\mathop{N}}\,{{H}_{3}}\] are electron donors and Lewis acid. (ii) \[\text{AlC}{{\text{l}}_{\text{3}}}\]is electron deficient compound and is electron acceptor. So it is Lewis acid.
