The focal length of the objective lens and eye-piece of an astronomical telescope are 2m and 0.05 m. Find the length of the telescope.

    A)  2.05 m

    B)  1.16 m

    C)  1.05 m

    D)  2.9 m

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

An astronomical telescope consists of two converging lenses one is objective lens and other is eyepiece. In relaxed eye state of telescope, length of telescope tube is given by \[{{L}_{\infty }}={{f}_{0}}+{{f}_{e}}\] Given, \[{{f}_{0}}=2m,{{f}_{e}}=0.05\,m\] \[\therefore \] \[{{L}_{\infty }}=2+0.05=2.05\,m\]
