Energy obtained when 1 mg mass is completely converted in to energy will be:

    A) \[9\times {{10}^{13}}\,J\]

    B) \[3\times {{10}^{8}}\,J\]

    C)  \[3\times {{10}^{15}}\,J\]

    D) \[9\times {{10}^{15}}\,J\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

     According to Einsteins theory of relativity, matter is completely converted into energy or vice-versa. The relation is \[E=\Delta m{{c}^{2}}\] Given, \[\Delta m=1\,mg\,=1\times {{10}^{-3}}g,\,c=3\times {{10}^{8}}m/s\] \[\therefore \] \[E=1\times {{10}^{-3}}\times {{(3\times {{10}^{8}})}^{2}}\] \[=9\times {{10}^{13}}\,J\]
