When there is no change in muscle length during contraction, it is called:

    A)  isometric

    B)  isotonic

    C)  isostasis

    D)  refractory period

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Muscle tension is the force produced by a whole muscle when it contracts. When the length of muscle fibre during contraction remain the same and the tension is increased, it is termed as isometric contraction. When during contraction the tension remains the same but the change occurs in length of muscle fibre, it is called isotonic contraction. Refractory period is the period during which a repolarised membrane become polarised.
