It the momentum of a particle is doubled, then its de-Broglie wavelength will:

    A)  become four times

    B)  become half

    C)   become two times

    D)   remain unchanged

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Momentum of a particle is related to de-Broglie wavelength through the relation given by                 \[p=\frac{h}{\lambda }\] where \[h\] is Planck's constant. or            \[\lambda =\frac{h}{p}\] or            \[\lambda \propto \frac{1}{p}\] \[i.e.,\] de-Broglie wavelength is inversely proportional to the momentum of the particle, so, if momentum is doubled, then de-Broglie wavelength will become half.
