    Solution :

    Given system of linear equations is \[x+y=1\] ?.(i) \[x-2y=4\] ??(ii) On subtracting Eq. (i) from EQ. (II), we get \[\begin{align}   & x+y=1 \\  & x-2y=4 \\  & -\,\,\,\,\,\,+\,\,\,\,\,\,\,\,- \\  & \_\_\_\_\_\_\_\_ \\  & 3y=-3 \\ \end{align}\] \[y=-1\] On putting \[y=-1\]in Eq. (i) we get \[x-1=1\] \[\Rightarrow \] \[x=2\]
