    Ferrocene is an example of

    A)  sand-wiched complex

    B)  pi-bonded complex

    C)  a complex in which all the five carbon atoms of cyclopentadiene anion are bonded to the metal

    D)  all of the above

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Ferrocene or bi-(cyclopentadienyl) iron is an orange-crystalline solid. It is\[Fe{{({{\eta }^{5}}-{{C}_{5}}{{H}_{5}})}_{2}}.\] The structure of ferrocene is regarded as sandwiche structure, in which the iron atom is sandwiched between two \[{{C}_{5}}{{H}_{5}}\]organic rings. The planes of the rings are parallel so that all the carbon atoms are at the same distance  from the iron atom. It is a pi-bonded complex. Its structure is as:
