  • question_answer
If 100 kWh of energy is consumed at 33V in a copper voltameter. What is the mass of copper liberated?  Electrochemical equivalent of copper is \[=\text{ }0.33\times {{10}^{-6}}kg/C.\]

    A)  1 mg

    B)  3.6 kg

    C)  3.3 kg

    D)  1kg

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

                    Power consumed \[=V\times q\] \[\therefore \]                  \[{{V}_{q}}=100\times 1000\times 3600J\]                 \[{{V}_{q}}=3.6\times {{10}^{8}}J\]                 \[q=\frac{3.6\times {{10}^{8}}}{V}=\frac{3.6\times {{10}^{8}}}{33}C\] Now \[m=zq\]                 \[=\frac{0.33\times {{10}^{-6}}\times 3.6\times {{10}^{8}}}{33}=3.6kg\]
