The perimeter of a rectangle is 60 cm. If its length is twice its breadth, then its area is

    A) 200 \[c{{m}^{2}}\]

    B) 180 \[c{{m}^{2}}\]

    C) 160 \[c{{m}^{2}}\]

    D) 220 \[c{{m}^{2}}\]

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

    Sol.      [a] Let the breadth of the rectangle be x cm then, the length of the rectangle is 2x cm. Now; perimeter of rectangle = 2 (length + breadth) \[\Rightarrow \]60 = 2 (2x + x) \[\Rightarrow \]6x = 60 \[\Rightarrow \] x = 10 cm \[\therefore \]Length = 2x = 2 x 10 = 20 cm Breadth = x = 10 cm \[\therefore \]Area of rectangle = length x breadth = 10 x 20 = 200\[c{{m}^{2}}\]
