    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Bleeding is a slow exudation of a watery solution from an incision made in a plant tissue. There are four major types of bleeding. [a] There is an exudation of xylem sap from an incision made in the root or stem of a young, well watered plant rooted in a well watered soil. This type of bleeding is associated with root pressure. [b] The bleeding is attributed to local pressure developed within stems themselves, eg, flow of xylem sap in sugar mapple. [c] Local pressure  developed in  stem themselves, when the stems of certain species of palms are cut, a phloem sap containing upto 20% sugar is exuded. [d] When cuts are made in certain tissues of certain plants.
