    Auxin causes

    A)  growth of apical bud

    B)  growth of lateral bud

    C)  seed dormancy

    D)  fall of leaf

    Correct Answer: A

    Solution :

Auxin is a growth promoting plant hormone. It influences the growth of apical buds (apical domihancy) by inhibiting the growth of lateral buds. It is possible because, the auxin is synthesized in the apical meristem from where it is translocated down wards causing inhibition of lateral buds. Auxins are used in breaking dormancy in corns, bulbs, tubers and seeds. Auxins control the falling of leaves, fruits, flowers from the plants.
