    Ulothrix releases zoospore during

    A)  evening

    B)  morning

    C)  night

    D)  noon

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Zoospore formation is the usual method of multiplication when the conditions of life are favourable. All the cells of Ulothrix filament except holdfast are capable of reproduction. The mature zoospores are liberated through a pore in the lateral wall into a delicate vesicle. The pore is formed by a localized gelatinization of wall. The vesicle soon bursts and liberate the zoospores. All the cells in the filament commonly produce and discharge the zoospores about the same time just after sunrise.
