    Liver is the largest gland of the body. There are many function performed by liver like, glycogenesis, bile secretion, excretion, hemopiosis etc. A zinc-containing enzyme (alcohol dehydrogenase) is found chiefly in the liver cells. The alcohol is converted to acetaldehyde by this enzyme. It provides energy for fat synthesis in liver. Which causes fatty liver syndrome. Gradually the liver hardens and dries up as its cells are replaced by fibrous tissue. This kind of liver degeneration is called, cirrhosis. Opium is obtained from unripe seed pod of Papaver somniferum. Morphine and codeine are derivative of opium. Morphine has sleep and dream inducing properties. Tobacco can be obtained from dried and cured leaves of Nicotiana tabaccum and N. rustica. About 90% of victims of lung cancers are associated with smoking.
