    Kinetochore is :

    A)  a type of chromophore

    B)  part of chromosome at centromere

    C)  part of centrosome

    D)  constituent of chromomere

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

Kinetochore is the region of centromere to which spindle microtubules attached during cell division. During prophase proteins of trilaminar kinetochores (one for each chromatid) start depositing or organising on the centromere of each chromosome. Chromomeres are bead-like accumulations of chromatin material that are sometime visible along interphase chromosomes. These become clear in polytene chromosomes. Centrosome is a region of cell in which, two centrioles lying in pair at right angle to one another.
