The interhalogen compound not formed is :

    A)  \[ICl\]

    B)  \[I{{F}_{5}}\]

    C)  \[Br{{F}_{5}}\]

    D)  \[BrC{{l}_{7}}\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

Key Idea: Compounds formed by reaction of halogens among themselves are called interhalogens. The difference in electro negativities among halogens should be high for formation of interhalogen compounds. \[\therefore \] \[BrC{{l}_{7}}\] is not formed because difference in electronegativities of Br and \[Cl\] is not so high so as to oxidise Br to +7 state.
