  • question_answer
If OA is equally inclined to OX, OY and OZ and if A is \[\sqrt{3}\]unit from the origin, then A is

    A)  \[(3,3,3)\]

    B)        \[(-1,1,-1)\]

    C)        \[(-1,1,1)\]

    D)        \[(1,1,1)\]

    Correct Answer: D

    Solution :

    Since, OA is equally inclined to OX, OY and OZ. Let coordinates of A are \[(a,a,a).\] Also, \[OA=\sqrt{3}\]                 \[\therefore \]  \[\sqrt{{{(a-0)}^{2}}+{{(a-0)}^{2}}+{{(a-0)}^{2}}}=\sqrt{3}\]                 \[\Rightarrow \]                               \[\sqrt{3{{a}^{2}}}=\sqrt{3}\]                 \[\Rightarrow \]                               \[\sqrt{{{a}^{2}}}=1\]                 \[\Rightarrow \]                               \[a=\pm 1\] \[\therefore \]Coordinates of A are (1, 1, 1) or \[(-1-1,-1).\]
