    : Sieve elements are enucleated living cells found in phloem. Nucleus is present in the beginning which disappears later on. They are meant for the conduction of food material and are of two types - (i) sieve cells, which are with sieve plates on the lateral wall arid without companion cell, and (ii) sieve tubes, which are with sieve plates on transverse or oblique wall and with companion cell.
