A straight line through the point A (3, 4) is such that its intercept between the axes is bisected at A. Its equation is     AIEEE  Solved  Paper-2006

    A) \[3x-4y+7=0\]

    B) \[4x+3y=24\]

    C)        \[3x+4y=25\]

    D)        \[x+y=7\]

    Correct Answer: B

    Solution :

    Since, A is mid-point of line PQ. \[\therefore \]\[3=\frac{a+0}{2}\]                           \[\Rightarrow \]\[a=6\] and\[4=\frac{0+b}{2}\]                  \[\Rightarrow \]\[b=8\] Thus, the equation of line is \[\frac{x}{6}+\frac{y}{8}=1\]       or            \[4x+3y=24\]
