JEE Main & Advanced AIEEE Solved Paper-2004

  • question_answer
A particle is acted upon by a force of constant magnitude which is always perpendicular to the velocity of 'the particle. The motion of the particle takes place in a plane, it follows that

    A) its velocity is constant

    B) its acceleration is constant

    C) its kinetic energy is constant

    D) it moves in a straight line

    Correct Answer: C

    Solution :

When a force of constant magnitude acts on velocity of particle perpendicularly, then there is no change in the kinetic energy of particle. Hence kinetic energy remains constant. The velocity of particle may be constant or not depending upon the path whether it is straight or curved. But the speed is always constant.
